we will have two students representing BVS in the “BPS 2026 Superintendent's Juried Art Show” highlighting original artworks from 2025-2026 high school juniors and seniors enrolled in Visual Art AP, IB, AICE, Dual Enrollment and Level 2 or higher Art courses. Artworks will be judged based on Original Design, Technical Skill, Expression and Composition. The judging includes criteria in the areas of originality, craftsmanship, and dramatic value.

So many students admire you. How do you make those connections? I create relationships with students by taking time to get to know each students interests, hobbies, and families.I use this information to make connections in our lessons that apply to real-life situations. Since our educational program is so intertwined with a students home life, it creates an understanding that makes them feel important. When or why is (or isn’t) a picture worth a thousand words? Looking at the whole picture of a situation helps us to understand more than what is being relayed or described. Everyone comprehends things differently, so we must rely on teaching to meet each child’s individual learning needs. If you won the lottery and decided to give up teaching, what would you do instead? If I won the lottery, I would purchase a large farm to house rescue animals. I would have conservation and therapy programs for individuals with unique abilities.

What sort of morning routine do you have to get jazzed for class? I keep my mornings pretty simple but upbeat. I usually start with a cup of coffee, check my plan for the day, and do a step workout to get me energized and ready for the day. What is your first memory from school? My first memory from school is walking into my classroom for the first time and feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. I remember meeting my teacher, seeing all the colorful decorations, and sitting at my desk wondering what the day would be like. It was the beginning of learning new things and making new friends. What is your dream vacation? My dream vacation would be a mix of relaxation and adventure. I’d love to spend a few days somewhere warm and beautiful exploring local food, culture, and scenery during the day, then slowing down with sunsets and good conversation at night. The perfect balance of exploring and recharging.

To be considered for a scholarship, students must be in their senior year and on track to graduate that year. They must be enrolled in one of the 17 high schools listed above and planning to attend a two-year or four-year college or university for the following fall semester. Students interested in earning a Great Southeast Flooring America scholarship should also be able to demonstrate traits such as high character, integrity, academic achievement, sportsmanship, citizenship, and leadership. A 500-word essay on “How I Would Use the $1,000” is also required. The deadline for submitting the application and essay is April 1.

How do you spend your summer breaks? Summers are spent traveling with family and friends, and enjoying days of crafts and gardening with my granddaughters ;) What makes a ‘good day’ at school? A good day at school is when the math lesson runs smoothly and I get to see the "light bulb" come on for a student who is struggling with a topic. When I am teaching and I see them light up or say "I get it now" - that's a good moment and worth every minute spent teaching! What is one of your hidden talents? I am not sure it's necessarily a hidden talent or not but I have been doing photography for a long time and I have some pretty amazing portraits that I am proud of :)

Hello BVS Families! We are excited to share that BVS will be at Let's Plant It! for our first school Pop Up event on September 25th. Please mark your calendars and come out to join us! You can stop by to just say, “Hi!” or your student can participate in a hands on planting activity! They will also be donating 10% of all proceeds that night back to BVS to support our PBIS program. September 25th 3pm-6pm Let's Plant It! (The Avenues Viera) 2271 Town Center Ave, Suite 119 Viera 32940 At Pop-Up events we visit different businesses in the community so our students, staff and families can have some fun together, as well as pick up anything you may need from BVS, such as ID Badges and PBIS purchases. We hope by doing events in different areas of the county, it may be more convenient for families to come to the Pop Up. Let's Plant It! is an interactive plant store and we know our kids will enjoy getting their hands into some dirt! See attached for more details. We really hope to see you there!

Pristine, rich in biodiversity, and historically important in the "evolution" of the biological sciences. If you could pass on any wisdom to your students, what would you share? Be good to your future self. Try to accomplish things today that the future-you will thank the today-you for. (ie. Saving money, healthy life habits, Getting a good education, picking out tomorrow's outfit the night before) What would students be surprised to find out about you In addition to science, I like learning other languages, I'm a geography nerd and I love trains and airplanes.
